Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
Male becomes pale and assumes a courtship coloration (kinda looks almost white on the flanks, kinda sickly!). Male displays for female. As spawning nears, the pair will go through false spawning rises, with the male nuzzling the female's abdomen as the pair moves upward in the water column.
Spawning Behavior:
At apex of a rise ,the male extremely quickly repositions his vent to align with the females, both release gametes in a split second, and then dash for the reef.
Post Spawn Behavior:
NONE. Eggs are pelagic and float to surface, receiving no further care from the adults. Tankmates even learn to recognize this daily addition of "food".
