Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
They don't really interact with each other, the keep to their places in the tank.
Spawning Behavior:
not witnessed, I assume they have typical clown spawn behavior of cleaning the tile and then nibbling each other then the female lays eggs with lots of wiggling motion and then the male would pass over them fertilizing them. lots of wiggle motion would be seen. But this was not witnessed with this spawn just speculation.
Post Spawn Behavior:
They typically stay in two places. The female in the tile structure and the male in the same spot behind the rocks but now both are in and out of the tile structure caring for the eggs by mouthing and aerating them with their fins.
Egg Details
Size: |
2-3 mm by 1mm oval shaped
Color: |
orange at time of spawn
Quantity: |
several hundred, at least three hundred would be my guess

orange ovals laid in a tight cluster of about 1.5 inches around
Location:
Laid on a the ceiling of a tile structure.
Other Details:
This spawn was not witnessed, and since they are laid kinda back from a direct light source it is hard to see them really well. It is possible they were laid yesterday 9/13/15 but I didn't see them. The tank measurements seem strange because this is a 40 gallon tank that is divided into two equal sides, note picture in journal
