Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
They have been cleaning the pot for a long time, they mouth clean and wiggle fast brushing off any detritus build up.
Spawning Behavior:
typical clownfish courtship, they clean the area they will spawn at with their mouths, the female lays the eggs and then the male makes several passes over the eggs fertilizing them. It looks like a lot of jerky wiggling motion over the spawn site.
Post Spawn Behavior:
They mouth the eggs to keep them clean, they use there fins to fan the eggs.
Egg Details
Size: |
2-3mm ovals
Color: |
orange at time of spawn
Quantity: |
The first spawn was maybe 40-50 eggs.
Description:
The eggs are bright orange when first laid, they are oval shaped. They are in a tight cluster.
Location:
The eggs where laid on the bottom laying side of a flower pot.
Other Details:
I was surprised how organized a cluster they were for the first spawn, my other pairs tend to take a few spawns until they have a nice tight cluster. They have spawned two times now and like most new spawning pairs they have eaten most if not all the eggs by day three.
