Filtration:
|
This tank is part of a system with a ten gallon acting like a sump and two other 5 gallon tanks used for grow out of clown fish. The ten has a hang on back Marineland penguin bio 100 and a fair amount of macro algae, the 5 with the shrimp has a small sponge filter. I do a 3-5 gallon water change on this system every other week.

I have decided these are most likely Lysmata boggessi based on picture ID from this link found on MBI. http://decapoda.nhm.org/pdfs/27306/27306.pdf
Also from the source http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/build_your_own_kit.cfm?id=1 where it is stated that most of the peppermint shrimp they collect for the build your own cleaner pack are Lysmata boggessi.
Because I have 8 in the same tank and several of them have eggs at the same time it is difficult to determine spawn dates. I used todays date 5/7/14 just as a starting point, not specifically that any spawned today. I plan on isolating a couple with eggs to determine hatch dates and to attempt rearing the larvae.
