Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
None noted
Spawning Behavior:
They interact with one another side by side (or so it looked). Once they are near each other it is often difficult to determine which is which and what precisely is happening.
Post Spawn Behavior:
None noted

Egg Details
Size: |
not measured precisely, estimate less than 300 microns per capsule
Color: |
white, to yellowish-white, to grayish before hatching
Quantity: |
a lot, but not counted since each capsule has multiple veligers
Description:
Egg strings are white when first laid, turn to a yellowish white, then darken just before hatch. The egg strings are folded up upon themselves but typically take up a space about 1 inch by 1 inch, although the string is not densely packed in that area. E

Location:
First spawn was in a chaetomorpha algae ball. Subsequenct spawns were anywhere that the B. leachii cruised to, including ulva sp., sides of the breeder basket, on a mag float, or on the tank glass. They are not picky.
