Spawn Details

Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
Female is quite obviously gravid. Male displays very bright colors, and is aggressively at the divider courting the female.

Spawning Behavior:
|
Male displays insanely bright colors. His eyes are practically glowing. Very light blue stripes down the back and in the markings on his sides that are not normally present. The male leads the female into his cave, and she submissively follows. She stays in his cave for perhaps 1/2 hour, laying the eggs, while he aligns himself parallel to her, fertilizing them. He also watches for danger or competitors while the spawning takes place, and may swim the perimeter of his territory while the female stays in the cave, continuing to lay eggs. He will return to her, and fertilize the eggs some more. Once she is done laying, she will exit the cave rather suddenly.

Post Spawn Behavior:

They return to their separate territories. The male mostly remains in the cave, tending the eggs for the next 4 days.
