Time Together:
(how long have you had the pair before this event)
I have had them since March of 2012. The store ordered the second one for me so they didnt spend time together before I added them to my tank.
Feeding
Food: |
I mix frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, squid, reef plankton and mega marine by San fransico bay brand, rods herbivore blend.
Feeding Schedule:
I feed them between 3 and 5 times a day. I try to spread these out as best I can but I work at night so often the last feeding is at 5pm.

Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
The pair spent a good amount of time wiggling about eachother, cleaning the area the eggs where eventually laid, including a large area nearby.
Spawning Behavior:
The female wiggled back and forth leaving eggs scattered on the tile and the male moments latter fallowed behind wiggling over the eggs fertilizing them. Little to no direct interaction between the two during the spawn. Both male and female mouthed/ nibbled the eggs a good amount during the spawning.
Post Spawn Behavior:
Both male and female attended the eggs, the male a bit more than the female.
Egg Details
Size: |
2-3 mm by 1mm oval shaped
Color: |
light orange, much lighter than both my maroons and cinnamons eggs
Quantity: |
30-50 eggs for the first spawn
Description:
The eggs are small oval shaped maybe 2-3mm long by 1 mm wide and light orange in color. The clutch was very scattered about, not in a nice close circle.
Location:
The eggs were laid on a tile on the back side of the tank near the base of their long tentacle anemone.
Other Details:
The eggs only lasted a couple days, I dont know if they were eaten because they were not fertile or if the pair was stressed but I have heard this is very common for a first spawning.
