Spawn Details
Pre-Spawn Behavior: |
They are very aggressive towards each other. If they where not so prefectly matched in size and strength they would most likely kill one another.
Spawning Behavior:
The female lays the eggs under the piece of coral upside down. The male usually gets some black tiger like stipes and sprints into the small coral/live rock tunnel and fertilizes them. He then ferociously chases the female away and tends to the eggs.
Post Spawn Behavior:
The only interaction after the spawn between the pair is territorial. The male keeps all visitors it deems aggressive away from the nest. That includes the mother. The male spends most of it's non feeding time in the nest fanning and protecting the eggs.
