Feeding Tactics/Medium: |
500-600uL microalgae grow per L, 6 "drops" of liquid silicate from FAF per L in sterilized water
|
Split Cycle: |
Diluted starter culture 1:3 in a single 2L bottle. On day 4 it was split into two 2L bottles which were then filled with sterile, fertilized water
The split cycle varies greatly. Splits can be done as early as 4 days and after as long as 30. The use of mainly natural light causes a large degree of growth variability. |

Harvest Methology: |
Cultures are split once they reach maximum darkness (gauged by eye). If a culture does not darken up as expected, half is taken and disposed of and new sterilized, fertilized media is added. 1/2 to 2/3 of the 2L soda bottles are typically harvested. Excess is stored in the refrigerator until needed. |
