Food: |
Not sure if they are having issues weaning or not. Have been offering crushed flake foods (Formula 1, Ocean Nutrition Spirulina), Otohime B1 and B2, freeze dried cyclopeeze (not the wafers, the whole copepods). Have also offered in live Tigriops copepods, and enriched not-so-baby brine. |
Feeding Schedule: |
at least 3 times daily |
Fry Description: (Pre Settlement) |
They start out with a massive head, black, huge, with a very thin wispy body. They look almost like "sperm", but more cartoonish. |
Fry Description: (Post Settlement) |
The body slowly lengthens and fills out. The last coloration to appear is the black lyretail. |

Other Information: |
This project was hammered by cold temperatures in the basement...an ongoing problem. Additionally, a hydroid problem in the larval rearing setup wiped out most of a promising run. Weaning seems to have also been an issue...a week earlier I had 6 offspring, and now I'm down to one, likely because I did not continue to feed live brine shrimp multiple times per day. Not sure if we'll make it to 60 days post hatch with the one remaining baby. |
