Started on rotifers +_RotiGreen. Added Baby brine started day 12. Shortly after settlement, the fish were willing to switch from enriched baby brine shrimp to Otohime B1 and Formula 1 Flakes (crushed). I offered Otohime A prior to settlement, but cannot say whether it was accepted or not |
| Feeding Schedule: |
Feeding baby brine and otohime A alternating as settlement approached - roughly 5 times per day minimum |
Fry Description: (Pre Settlement) |
Settlement starts with fry being clear, but hiding in sections of PVC pipes. In theory, they have already settled at this point. |
Fry Description: (Post Settlement) |
Shortly thereafter, they develop the yellow coloration on their back, and look every bit like a miniature of the adult. |

See page 5 of my journal for the best settlement pictures and videos. Note that MOST settlement occured fairly quickly - 11-2-2010 was the date on which I noticed ZERO clear juveniles in the culture containers. Disease problems have struck the new larval rearing system, likely due to the introduction of unquarantined fish (and I am now thus paying the price). This batch may or may not make it to 60 dps, we shall see... |
