Where Hatched: |
I removed the eggs from the main tank and put them in a small specimen container that is probably a quart in volume. I attached the container to the rim of the tank and floated it in the tank water to maintain the same water temp as the brood stock. |

# Hatched |
6 |
# Not Hatched |
roughly a dozen of the collected eggs didn't hatch |
Larvae Size |
about 0.5 mm wide and 1.5 - 2mm long |
First Food: |
None, I haven't tried raising these yet. They don't have developed eyes and likely don't have a developed mouth so I think feeding wouldn't start for a couple days. |
Larvae Description:
( Do larvae have eyes, mouth, gut, attracted to light, etc?) |
Its hard to tell without a microscope with a scale but the best I can say is the larvae are about 0.5 mm wide and 1.5 - 2mm long. They have a large egg yolk still visible, there eyes are not developed, there pretty good swimmers avoiding the pipette. They are mostly clear with some spots that with the naked eye look dark but in the pictures with the flashlight on them they appear almost silver or white.

|
The light is a florescent aquarium light 17watt, 24 inch (with the fixture it hangs of the sides of the tank a bit) t8 bulb. The container they hatched in is in the brood stock tank so the light is the same for both. |
Lighting Schedule:
|
The lights are on a timer that is set to 9am on and 10pm off, the same as the brood stock tank. |

Other Information: |
The info in the "tank parameters" is information for the container they hatched in. The larvae were not removed from the container they hatched in, except to take pictures. |
