Feeding Tactics/Medium: |
Medium is 3 ml Guillard's added to a gallon of culture, 27-30ppt saltwater, chlorinated and dechlorinated previously to "sterilize". This a batch culture, so it is fed only once at the beginning of the setup.
|
Split Cycle: |
To a jar and lid setup, chlorinated and dechlorinated, including the 2/3 (roughly) gallon culture water, 3 ml Guillards (f) is added, then add 1/3 gallon darkest rhodamonas culture I have. The jar is capped loosely and air is driven into the jar as if to boil.
I do this roughly every week or two, or more often if the culture looks like it is in decline.

Density: |
varies quite a bit. Some weeks is darker than others. Don't know why
|
Harvest Methodology: |
Use 1/3 of a jar contents to propagate, keep the rest for use at room temp on a shelf with light and air, just as though I was growing it. If it is really dark, I might add a little fertilizer, approx. 1 ml Guillard's f.
