Feeding Tactics/Medium: |
For the 10 gallon tank, I have a peristaltic pump delivering 2-4 ml of live isochrysis per hour. Others are fed to achieve a barely detectable tint to the water. I replace the saltwater when I use the copepods, and I am not presently doing any other water changes.
|
Split Cycle: |
Since establishing these cultures I have not done a lot of splitting. I feed them, and if I need them for feeding fish larvae, I take some out with a volume of water, and replace with clean saltwater, but I have no schedule of splitting.
|
Split Yield: |
Difficult to determine. It is difficult to figure out the density. To start the 10 gallon tank, I filled it with saltwater to 8 gallons, bleached the water and tank for 24 hours, dechlorinated, tested, and added the contents of 1 gallon jar of copepods. Refilled the jar with water, and replaced on the shelf. More parvocalanus grew in both locations.

Number of Cultures: |
Two.
|
Number of Splits:< |
about 3 I guess.
|
Density: |
Hard to say. Guess, about 5 per ml.
|
Harvest Methodology: |
Dip out a gallon and pour through 27 micron mesh filter, backwash into small dish or cup. Check under the microscope.
|
Adjustments Made: |
Originally, I was splitting and water changing and jar changing each week. Stopped doing that when it appeared not to matter.
