Feeding Tactics/Medium: |
Rotifers are feed with Reeds Rotifer Diet at a level where by the bottom of the container cannot be seen.
This is in the order of 100ml - 200ml of diluted Rotifer Diet per 2 days. One part rotifer diet is diluted with 10 parts aged artificial salt water.
|
Split Cycle: |
Once the density of Rotifers peaks (or two weeks), the culture is moved to a new set of buckets. Or a new single bucket and 50% are frozen depending on demand.
Both buckets are filled to 15L mark with new aged artificial salt water and provided with Rotifer Diet to colour water deep green. The Rotifers from the old bucket are filtered through a series of screens and the contents remaining on the 53um screen are back washed into the two new buckets.
|
Split Yield: |
two buckets are split from one or one from one and the left over is harvested (frozen or feed to fry/reef tanks).

Harvest Methodology: |
2-3l of liquid is removed for each nest of fry and passed through a series of screens and the contents remaining on the 53um screen are back washed into the fry containers.
Across the three Rotifer buckets, the most dense is used for harvest.
|
Adjustments Made: |
RO water is added when evaporation is apparent. This is done in an adhoc manner.
AmGuard is added if bubbles form on surface at a rate of 0.5ml per day (if during the week, if on weekend the Rotifers are filtered through a series of screens and the contents remaining on the 53um screen are back washed into a clean bucket filled to 15L mark with new aged artificial salt water and provided with Rotifer Diet to colour water deep green.
