Feeding Tactics/Medium: |
I add drops of Roti-Grow+ when the water clears, up to a ml or so a day. Equal volume chloramX.
I also culture them with rotifers, as that seems to help them get established and survive long term. I periodically add rotifers as I have them. No set schedule for rotifer additions.
Lately I've been adding other copepods as them become available: A. panamensis, M. salina, and dinoflagellate O. marina, and also ciliates.
|
Split Cycle: |
Every few weeks I decant the culture to a clean bucket, and sieve half the water out, retaining the pods on a plastic coffee filter, to return the pods to the culture. I add back in clean saltwater, the volume of water and pods i took out.
|
Split Yield: |
I can't count these guys. I just harvest as needed on the plastic coffee filter, and backwash into a collection cup. At one time I was getting 8 small bottles at the density on the video or greater every week for several weeks.

Number of Cultures: |
just the one indoor, others at different locations don't last as long.
|
Number of Splits:< |
uncounted
|
Density: |
enough. I can't count them. see the video
|
Harvest Methodology: |
I just pour the culture through a plastic coffee filter, I think it is about 150 micrometers. The pods collect on the filter and the water goes through. I can then backwash the pods into a collection cup. These tiggers are very sticky, though. They tend to cling to the mesh more than other pods in my estimation.

Adjustments Made: |
many and various, with no apparant effect on survival. These guys are sturdy.
