The decision of the council was to deny entering this species at this time. We are always open to reconsidering it in the future I suppose, but the consensus was that any species normally thought of and sold as a Freshwater Fish, let alone one normally handled in a typical Freshwater BAP, shouldn't be permitted into the MBI Fish Species Lists / Categories. Yes, they can occur in saltwater (have seen them in the Mangroves in the Florida Keys) but they are typically only sold or utilized in saltwater aquariums as a food item for other marine fish. IF there is ever a place for this species in the MBI, it could conceivably be under food culture at the most basic level, possibly, maybe, perhaps.
