I intend to make the argument that if we're going to continue to recognize the obvious differences between Black Ocellaris from Darwin and A. ocellaris, we perhaps must again stand up in contrast with currently accepted taxonomy in the case of the Gold Stripe Maroon. It is geographically separated, behaviorally different. It WAS once described as a separate species until Dr. Allen synonymized it. I don't agree with that assessment based on the evidence at hand. |
