We are ready to assign a class to this but we are having a hard time verifying the species. Where did you find information that led you to believe this was Calthalotia strigatus?

Curious as to what the status of this request is?

The problem is we are not able to indentify the species in question here. The one suggested in Jim's Breeding Journal I'm not able to even match to any snail species. If all these species are close enough I suppose we could just put this into the system for the time being as Trochus sp.

Chad, I just realized what the solution is. In the cichlid world, MOST fish don't have species. So we use a "legitimized" common name, generally but not always a location/race name. So in this case, the proper way to list this as an unidentified species would be to get to the genus level, and then apply the common name. i.e. Trochus sp. "Black Footed Trochus".
Now, if this species is being bred successfully, Jim should be able to donate a few to send somewhere for a proper ID
