A halophite algae (thrives in extreme salinity) with extraordinarily high lipid production. Utilized in many medical, and biofuel applications due to it's high content in beta carotenes and other essential nutrients. Cells are oblong, 5-13 micron in length and typically 4 micron in width. Should be cultured at higher salinities. |
