Running in July 20th, 2011 - Successful captive spawning and rearing of Anisotremus virginicus as part of the Rising Tide Initiative. That news also sparked a pers-comm from Moe, who stated in an email that "Aqualife Research Corp. collected porkfish back in November of 1978 and 79. We used barrier nets to collect adults, brought them back to the hatchery, they were in spawning condition so hormone injections were not necessary. Eggs were collected and fertilized by stripping and the larvae were reared in large numbers. "
Based on Rising Tide's anecdotal report, settlement is beyond 40 days post hatch. |
