Reasons Species Should be Reclassified: |
The "Breeding the Bluestripe Pipefish" article in the May/June 2011 edition of CORAL magazine is written by Till Deuss. In it, he states quite clearly that he was able to raise the larvae of this species with only baby brine shrimp (nauplii) as a first food. They settle at 12-14 days. In some respects, that almost suggests this fish even be moved as far as Class A, although the overall care and husbandry, and small size of the larvae with a pelagic phase, suggest that this species will probably find class B as it's final resting place. 6 weeks post hatch, they are already over 1" long, fully colored, and sexable! |
